Why I Wrote This Book
When I checked my biological age in July 2023, I thought the results would simply confirm what I already believed. My active lifestyle, healthy diet, and manageable stress kept me in good shape. To my surprise, the report told a different story. My biological age was three and a half years older than my actual age.
That unexpected result and the subsequent research to understand why it happened became a turning point. It prompted me to make a series of lifestyle changes that, over time, reversed my biological age. Within twelve months, my biological age decreased by four years, and the following year it stayed the same.
This book stems from what I learned during that process. This book is about how an ordinary middle-aged professional, balancing a demanding career and family life, can make practical, sustainable changes to protect their health. I have shared the four key areas that shaped my journey—exercise, nutrition, mindfulness, and supplements. I have discussed why exercise and muscle are vital for lasting health. I have explored two powerful hormones, insulin and cortisol, which are double-edged swords of our physiology. Both are essential for survival, yet harmful when out of balance.
My results are not extraordinary. They simply demonstrate what deliberate, consistent choices can accomplish. The most encouraging part is that I didn’t need to make dramatic or disruptive changes to my life. All it took was a few adjustments and, above all, the discipline to stay consistent. I believe that anyone, regardless of background, training, or stage of life, can experience similar benefits when they approach their health with awareness, intention, and consistency.
I wrote this book not only as a doctor but also as a fellow traveler who once faced the same crossroads many of you may encounter, wondering whether the course of aging can truly be changed. I know it can be done, and in this book I have shared the roadmap I followed to achieve it.
